Angels of War

So I found myself a new Monday night hustle. Now adding to the list of skills, live painter. While it's still progressing and evolving, the new environment is teeming with growth and opportunity. The Collective, as Hannah the organizer calls it, is the monday night art and music event where I get a chance to work with other artists and have people take a gander at my work. It's a step in the right direction. Like the right battle plan, I'm going to work this and take all advantage of it.
Like a good general, I need good soldiers. So I created two in order to start my own brand of propaganda. The first one was created in Photoshop, I then made some stickers of it, and the second one is about letter sized and charcoal. I actually drew that one at the event and it was sold to a fellow by the name of Alex. It only reinforced my initial idea that this is the place I need to be right now.
Now a little about these soldiers of mine. Fighting fire with fire, they are the fallen angels of war, coming out of their night shift of the corporate oil rig. I've been meaning to bring to life minions of the evil empire in my work for some time now and I believe that this is a good start. I have another in the works, being my guinea pig for my Corel Painter X exploits. More of that to come when it does.
Next time, party girl is coming back...

Chomsky on the Economy: Consuelo the Latina Prostitute

Here is a sketch that I did, inspired by an interview on the Real News Network with Naom Chomsky. I never heard him speak before, other than a YouTube discussion with William F. Buckley back in 1968. In the interview I saw today, he spoke about a very real statement from a commentator about the election really being about which group of the elite will be chosen to run the country. This is so true and so many know, while much more have no clue. Chomsky cited James Madison, one of America's founding fathers, as an advocate of elite rule. The governing should be handled by the wealth of the nation and he was opposed to popular support. Also, that most of the reforms of our society took place because of popular struggle, not because the government thought it up. The real change that has occurred has always come from those who stand up against the ruling class. Most important of all was that in swing states, that people should vote against McCain (whether or not the vote was for Obama is a different story). If you do vote for Obama, do it without the illusion that his rhetoric will actually materialize after January 20th.
That's been my issue with this election, the people who really run this country wouldn't really let a significant change in the power structure to occur. HOPE and CHANGE will convert into the typical centrist democratic agenda after the election if Obama wins. It's a wonder that such an intelligent individual such as Chomsky is a Professor of Linguistics at MIT.

Sinner In The City

Here's some progress on my first painting since I decided to take a break from making art over a year ago. I actually began it and it's been sitting in my work space, staring at me for months now. Last weekend I got some G&T and got crackin' on getting this guy to life, or death.
Flashback to about six months ago, and I figured out what the problem was point of this painting was. What's inside the jacket is black and infinite. No matter what you do, it will never be filled. The hands are red and hot, burning from a fire it cannot wield. It's a metaphor for a lifestyle that cannot be sustained. We'll see if that's the case when I'm done. But so far, so good.

Collective Panic: It's not happening to you

There are now certain pieces that are falling apart. The people that hold paper are tearing it to shreds, begging for more than paper. There is doubt in the air, its not quite getting to everyone. Not me at least. One of the most important things to remember is to actually not too much importance to the collective panic. It's in everyone's face because the people who own the flat screen in your living room, the real flat screen, want to keep you worried. Worried, stressed, and fearful for an uncertain outcome. The TV then will say that there is a solution, just so long as you accept it. No way. Do not accept and do not get yourself caught up. That's when you get trapped.
You don't have to do anything extreme, just look outside. Their is something there, no matter where you are, that keeps you grounded. I looked outside in Mexico and kept myself down, feet firm and strong. Everything else is a distraction.
Here's the sketch of the alley you saw in Mexico with some color too it. Enjoy.

The High Priestess: from the mouths of the presidential puppets

I started something today thanks to the muse called the second presidential debates. I'm going to have to absorb this one before I comment. But it did start something completely unrelated.
I have the idea from about a year ago to begin drawing tarot cards. I've only done some minimal research, but I sketched out my high priestess today. I would like to do some more research into it, so if anyone has some suggestions, I'll listen. So as far as this being a sketch, I have some plans for her once I get into to photoshopping. She needs to be more ritualized and more mysterious. Let's see what happens.

Justice is a masochist: Global Meltdown where the sun don't shine

I just gotta say, I got it pretty good. I'm not gonna go into the details, but I'm glad I'm not those poor suckers on Wall Street. Really, the Fed pumps $700 BILLION via an escrow (the new department for financial stability or whatever) and everyone says "IT'S NOT ENOUGH!" I wonder what the spike in the suicide looked like in the NYC at the end of the year. I actually disconnected myself from what the headlines were today because I knew the news wasn't going to be good. The Asian and European markets let Wall Street know that this is by no means over. But hey, I can't complain, gas around my area was at $3.66 a gallon.
I did listen to NPR this morning on my way to work and was glad to know that there are SO MANY financial experts who know how markets react to such situations. I'm glad they're giving Americans advice instead of actually bothering to tell congressmen about the situation. I mean, that's what lobbyists are for.
What does this have to do with Justice? Well, if you consider what's been going on, I think it's simple. Lady Justice is a dirty bitch, she's into the kinky stuff, and she likes to be abused. The Government f**** her, Wall Street and the Federal Reserve f*** her, hell everyday people f*** her too. I mean she gives it just as rough as she takes it, so it's not like she's complaining. So here's a sketch of her. With her blind fold on. Waiting for another whipping. Enjoy.
