Here is a sketch that I did, inspired by an interview on the Real News Network with Naom Chomsky. I never heard him speak before, other than a YouTube discussion with William F. Buckley back in 1968. In the interview I saw today, he spoke about a very real statement from a commentator about the election really being about which group of the elite will be chosen to run the country. This is so true and so many know, while much more have no clue. Chomsky cited James Madison, one of America's founding fathers, as an advocate of elite rule. The governing should be handled by the wealth of the nation and he was opposed to popular support. Also, that most of the reforms of our society took place because of popular struggle, not because the government thought it up. The real change that has occurred has always come from those who stand up against the ruling class. Most important of all was that in swing states, that people should vote against McCain (whether or not the vote was for Obama is a different story). If you do vote for Obama, do it without the illusion that his rhetoric will actually materialize after January 20th.
That's been my issue with this election, the people who really run this country wouldn't really let a significant change in the power structure to occur. HOPE and CHANGE will convert into the typical centrist democratic agenda after the election if Obama wins. It's a wonder that such an intelligent individual such as Chomsky is a Professor of Linguistics at MIT.
